About
Much of my work is themed around what I refer to as xinaesthetic, pronounced ‘ksinaesthetic’. This represents a synthesis of synaesthesia, the mixing of senses, combined with kinesthesia, the proprioceptive sense. As such, I am particularly interested in work that involves kinetic audio / visual material and explores the internal interactions of these elements as well as humans as integral parts of the system. This interest covers a wide gamut of applications, embracing art and music as well as science, games and design. One of the properties of this gamut as I recognise it is a spectrum of interaction, from passively viewing through more active participation leading perhaps ultimately to explicit design and programming. It may be said that another exists between art and science. In my work, I hope to navigate this complex space, finding novel intermediaries that may hopefully engage others.
